The folks over at the Acquired podcast have put together a fantastic deep dive podcast on Novo Nordisk, and it's a great listen.

What is Novo Nordisk?

Novo Nordisk (Wikipedia) is the multinational pharmaceutical company from Denmark which invented Semaglutide. While the name "Semaglutide" may not mean much, it's the drug behind the brand names that have become central in the recent type 2 diabetes an weight control wave:

  • Ozempic
  • Wegovy
  • Rybelsus
  • Victoza

The company was formed in 1923, and it's first move was to commercialize the production of insulin, so it's been focused on the needs of the diabetic community for a very long time (over 100 years!).
